The Tree of Life: Reaching Out Across the Lifespan Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 Center on Halsted 3656 N. Halsted Street The Tree of Life is a metaphor that can be found in many different cultures, symbolizing growth, knowledge, the cycle of birth and death, and spirituality, among other ideas. The tree is also the dominant visual element of Darwin’s theory of evolution, depicting living things as one giant family, with roots that stretch into the past, and branches that compete and cooperate with each other in an ongoing process of growth and change. This year, our conference will explore art, art therapy, and human development throughout the life cycle. We welcome clinical, theoretical, community-based, multidisciplinary, and social justice focused proposals, as well as work that is addressing the current political climate. People from all backgrounds are encouraged to submit their work. Please elaborate on this theme in whatever direction inspires you the most. We anticipate that this conference will be a multifaceted discussion about being human. Questions may be sent to IATA Conference Co-Chairs Amelia Thomley and Jenn Ross at conference.iata@gmail.com. |
