Message from IATA President

Greetings IATA Members,
This is Amber Przybyla, ATR, LPC, the new president of the Illinois Art Therapy Association for 2022. I am honored to have this opportunity to serve Illinois' dedicated community of art therapists. I also want to thank the previous and current board members of IATA and AATA for their hard work and dedication to the growth and sustainability of both associations.

As we enter the new year, I reflect on the challenges we have all faced and continue to face from the pandemic. From managing our own mental health needs, the needs of our loved ones, and the increasing needs of clients along with the continuing need to address lack of diversity, barriers to equality, and inclusion in our world. While we have important work to do, I am confident we will tackle these challenges and continue to build upon the work our 2021 board has begun. I truly believe when we come together as a community, we can continue to promote and create a space of openness, accountability, and communication that can enrich ourselves and our field. I am hopeful we can continue to grow together because I know we are a community of passionate individuals who believe in each other and our work.

Together, we plan to continue to support the development and growth of chapters across the state to create a robust network of support for one another. As we navigate the ever-changing pandemic we will look to CDC and WHO for recommendations and plan our events with the safety of our members, their families, and clients in mind. I hope this year we can explore the needs of our members to provide more support, increase engagement, and continue to provide structure and opportunities that reflect the needs of our current and future members. Please look out for upcoming events and ways to get involved. If anyone has ideas, thoughts, or reflections please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly. While we have an amazing board this year, I am committed and deeply believe in bringing as many voices as possible and perspectives to the table.

Thank you again for this opportunity to serve you all as president in the year 2022. Thank you all for your hard work, dedication, passion, and resiliency in all that you do. We look forward to continuing to support and serve you.
Warmly,
Amber Przybyla, LPC, ATR
