Term
The Director: Communications & Marketing works as part of the Executive Board. This Director partners with the Social Media Chair to maintain cohesive messaging across IATA's digital presence and manages e-alert newsletters and the IATA website for membership in a timely and consistent manner. This Director is one of seven voting members on IATA's Executive Board. Under the supervision of the President and the Board, the Director makes decisions that promote and center the interests and benefits of Illinois art therapists.

- Two years
- Shadowing the outgoing Director begins mid-September and runs through December of the year before the term for this role starts.
- The Director takes office at the Annual Chapter Meeting in December.
- This is a work-from-home, remote volunteer position. All business is conducted through the internet, with no immediate plan to become an in-person position.

Requirement
- Fluent proficiency with the internet, computers, and online service platforms, along with the ability to learn new technology and adapt to new systems on an ongoing basis, is required. Candidates should be comfortable building necessary technical skills through self-learning.
- Candidates are expected to uphold the ethical standards, code of conduct, and professional integrity expected of members of our field, and to be in good standing within the professional community.

- Ability or willingness to learn Constant Contact, Canva, Zoom, Google Workspace, and the Weebly website platform.
Responsibilities
- Maintain membership in IATA.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Board, responding to Board discussions, requests, and inquiries promptly.
- Attend and actively participate in all monthly Board and Chapter meetings.
- Assist the President in preparing and submitting Chapter paperwork as delegated.
- Set annual goals at the first board meeting.
- Manage the IATA website by updating information and keeping content current.
- Collect information for the e-alert newsletter (e.g., job openings, workshop announcements, chapter news) and send it to subscribers monthly.
- Assist in communicating with committees and streamlining communication among the board, committees, and membership.
- Coordinate with advertisement subscribers, collect media and information, distribute advertisements via e-alert newsletter, and share them with the Social Media Chair.
- In collaboration with the Social Media Chair, work toward creating marketing materials consistent with AATA branding to help promote IATA.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive internal communications, board discussions, and membership information.
- Take on additional responsibilities as requested by the President.
Monthly
- Collect and import the updated subscriber list into Constant Contact.
- Compose, test, and send a monthly newsletter to subscribers.
- Share marketing, newsletter, and advertisement materials with the Social Media Chair.
- Update Board Meeting Minutes for membership updates.
- Update the website to reflect the most current Board activity.
- Create ticket information on the website for IATA events.
- Collect information for and manage the "Find an Art Therapist" photo directory on the website for IATA members only.
- Place advertisements on the website and in the e-alert newsletter, and share them with the Social Media Chair at the frequency the subscriber paid for.
- Respond to inquiries submitted through the website and share relevant information with the appropriate board members.
