Course Description: This course will cover the important aspect of counselor licensing in Illinois, the ATR application process with the American Art Therapy Credentials Board, and procedures as part of career planning for new graduates and those who want to apply for these licenses.
Learning Objectives: You will learn about the LPC and LCPC application process in Illinois. You will learn about ATR-P and ATR application per ATCB. You will learn about other important environmental changes that will impact your art therapy career in Illinois.
Presenter Bio: Shan Ru Lin is a board-certified art therapist, and a certified art therapy supervisor practicing in Chicago. Shan has over 15 years of direct experience in the field of art therapy, spanning diverse industries and clinical settings. Over the decade of her career, she has started, led, and expanded art therapy programs for adults and children. In 2018 she was awarded by the United States Department of Labor as an Art Therapy Topic Expert for her contribution to the creation of art therapy occupation on O*Net. In 2019-2020 Shan helped developed and updated the now online art therapy national board certification exam, helping to infuse diversity, accessibility, and cultural inclusiveness in our measure of art therapy competency. In 2020 she founded Spring Advisory, a counseling and art therapy consultancy that offers therapy, supervision, and continuing education courses.
