Mather Community Initiatives
Mather is seeking experienced, qualified, diverse, and passionate Arts and Wellness Faculty to deliver in-
person and/or online classes for older adults in the areas of visual arts, theater, music, dance/movement,
digital media, mindfulness, nutrition, brain and sleep health, and other aspects related to wellness.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
FOR ARTS FACULTY, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in the arts, media arts, expressive arts
therapies, arts education, or a related field is required, plus three years experience teaching adults
in a creative field.
FOR WELLNESS FACULTY, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus three years
experience teaching adults OR a general bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience facilitating
wellness-focused programs.
Experience working with older adults is preferred; a deep interest in doing so is essential.
Experience teaching the arts or wellness both in person and online is preferred.
High level of dedication and personal responsibility is required.
For in person programs, the ability and willingness to travel to various Chicago neighborhoods to
deliver classes and workshops is required.
Capacity and willingness to work with a sense of flexibility and openness, particularly in working
with older adults from diverse backgrounds is required; along with the ability to foster positive peer
interactions among participants.
A strong commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of Mather, including a commitment to
