36th Annual Illinois Art Therapy Conference
Intersecting Art Therapy and Social Justice
Saturday, October 22nd, 2016
Advocate Children's Hospital, Oak Lawn, Illinois
This year's conference seeks to strengthen the role of art therapist in promoting social change, and to deepen our commitment to practices that aim to achieve social justice. We are presenting a call to action to acknowledge our responsibility to our community and to educate ourselves about prevalent issues of individual, collective, and institutional oppression, injustice, and violence. We aim within this conference to promote an open dialogue in order to dissect these processes, define the role that we as art therapists can play, and learn how to better serve as allies and direct collaborators for transformative social change.

Reading and Book Signing by Pat Allen
Sunday, October 23, 2016
Oak Park Public Library at 2:00PM
Pat Allen will be in Chicago in October for a book event. She has written a novel that includes in the story an alternative history about how her work, specifically the Open Studio Process came into the world.
In addition the novel is a fun and sometimes dark, but ultimately hopeful story about the power of women and creativity to save the world!
You can check it out at http://www.cronation.org
The title is Cronation as in Crone + nation. I have been presenting on fiction as research in relation to the book so I think it would be of interest to many folks. Here is the link for the event: http://oppl.org/events/author-pat-allen-cronation?ajax=1
I would love to see and welcome IATA members at this free event.
Thanks so much,
Pat Allen, Ph.D., ATR, HLM
